Find Your English & Math Placement Level

Find Your English and Math Placement Level

Through assessment, we can help you determine which English and math courses you should start with during your time at Mesa College. Find your placement level and the courses that meet your skillset.

I graduated from a U.S. high school within the last 10 years

If you graduated from a U.S. high school within the last 10 years, you will receive your placement levels based on the high school performance information that you provided on the application for admission (cumulative, unweighted high school GPA, English and math courses completed, and grades received). The new student application (CCCApply) will identify English and math courses that you can enroll in using prior high school history.

I graduated from a U.S. high school more than 10 years ago, completed the GED, or HiSet exam

If you graduated from a U.S. high school more than 10 years ago, completed the GED, or HiSet exam, you will receive your English and math placement through our Placement Assistant. The Placement Assistant will identify courses that you can enroll in using your prior academic history.

This information will include your:
  • Unweighted, cumulative high school GPA
  • Highest high school English course completed with a C- or better
  • Highest high school math course completed with a C- or better
  • HiSET or GED course (if applicable)

The Placement Assistant Program will allow only one submission per student.

Take English Classes as a Non-Native Speaker

If English is not your native language, you may benefit from taking an English Language Acquisition (ELAC) class before a traditional college-level English class. Contact the Assessment Office for more information or if you have questions regarding ELAC assessment.
